60-story Skyscraper Construction on 500 Fifth Avenue, New York City, 1930

The term ‘safety first’ or fear in general seemed not to exist for construction workers back in 1930. In this video you’ll see workers climbing on scaffolding and steelwork, 60-story up with no safety restraints. During the dizzy views, you’ll see the almost complete Chrysler building, the building process of the Empire State Building, the Times Tower and the Paramount Building. This footage appears to have recorded in 1930 June or July. Hold tight!
