The Land Rover Defender is one of the most iconic four-wheel drives. It’s classy enough to suit Her Majesty The Queen and bad-ass enough to get you home even when you run out of roads! British custom-shop Arkonik is the world’s leading Defender specialist and seeing this amazing 110 build named “Clone”, we fully understand why!
Land Rover Defender 110 restoration by Arkonik: “Clone”
The team at Arkonik started out with a 1992 Land Rover Defender 110 restoration project and the result was a modern 4×4 machine with a touch of military inspiration, vintage interior and all the extra equipment that you could dream of! The black and matte green exterior underlines the fact that this is a purpose-build machine designed to bring you through every obstacle.
“It’s classy enough to suit Her Majesty The Queen and bad-ass enough to get you home even when you run out of roads!”
Inside, a vintage brown leather is used for seating trim, gear gaitor and door cards and it adds a luxurious feel with high-quality stitches and detailing. It’s a bit like having a Chesterfield in your car, and who would mind that?!
The car has a long list of specifications with both custom solutions and the best of 4×4 accessories – we are particularly fond of the OEM Puma hood, the roof rack with rear ladder (must have!) and of course the Evander wood steering wheel.

Back in 2006, founder of Arkonik, Andy Hayes, had a motorcycle accident and was forced to rest for a couple of months. When he got out of the hospital, his wife bought him an old Defender 110 which was the very first project he did right in his own driveway. He travelled through Europe and Scandinavia in the V8 before starting another modification project. As the second car sold quickly, Arkonik was born!
“Defender for me is a metaphor for life… it creates a gateway to adventure.”
– Andy Hayes, Founder of Arkonik

Arkonik has grown into a solid company with more than 200 builds! They have their own team of experts on site taking care of every step of the restoration process from creating the initial design, stripping down the vehicle, rebuilding the engine and transmission, doing bodywork, painting and finally assembling everything to the finished result.
By the way, Andy still owns the very first Arkonik Defender. Now, that’s love – and one incredible cool wife!
