Inhabit Tree house, Woodstock
Less than two hours from New York City, Antony Gibbon has designed this amazing wooden tree house in the forest outside the town of Woodstock. The owner saw the conceptional drawing by Antony and wanted a tree house as close as possible to the original design.
The construction has huge windows with great views of the forest and mountains and outside, a path will take you to a nearby lake and a hot tub. The modern tree house is built around a steel frame which is then cladded in locally sources reclaimed cedar wood. Due to the cabin being raised above the ground, it gives an illusion of the building floating out of the side of the hill.
ROOST
The Roost Tree House has been described as “Elvish Accommodation for humans” by Inhabitat.com and the design looks like something from Lord of the Rings. The Experimental tree house design is based on a concept to blend into the forest – so much that the house would almost become part of the tree itself and camouflaged in the surroundings.
This is next-level architecture taking the tree house into the future
Each house consists of a series of pod like capsules and each pod has sleeping space for two people. An exterior platform on top of the pod provides panoramic views of the tree tops.
Embryo
The Embryo concept is a cylindrical two-story tree house with inspiration from a wasp’s nest. The design is based on “simple living” which means living in harmony with the nature and with minimal impact to the environment. A series of braces attach the Embryo construction to the tree without interfering with the continuous growth of the tree or causing any damage to the bark.
The entrance is through a hatch door which leads up to the first floor and continues to the second floor via steps that spiral upwards on the internal walls of the cylinder. The concept design accommodates four people and the windows can be custom made to maximize views and light.
Modern tree house design by Antony Gibbon
Antony Gibbon creates modern tree house designs that are both innovative, functional and sustainable. The small houses are designed specifically for the unique environments they are placed in to make the most of the surroundings.
Antony’s inspiration from nature and geometry shows in his innovative constructions. The shapes mimic organic forms but in the same time, the tree houses have an almost space-like style. By using sustainable materials, the wooden constructions are disguised and almost melting into the surroundings with a minimal impact to the environment. This is next-level architecture taking the tree-house into the future.
