You probably always wondered how the original Star Wars TIE Fighter was built – and soon, you will have all the detailed answers in the complete Haynes Owners’ Workshop Manual. They are now covering even vehicles operating in other galaxies!
Owner’s manual for Star Wars TIE Fighter by Haynes
The TIE/LN starfighter or simply the TIE Fighter is the standard Imperial starfighter seen in massive numbers throughout most of the Galactic Civil War. It first appeared in the 1977 Star Wars – Episode IV – A New Hope and later became the signature fighter for the Empire.
The Haynes Owners’ Workshop Manual offers detailed illustrations and also covers all technical information about the spacecraft. In addition, the 144 pages includes a thorough walk-through of the twin-ion engine fighter by Sienar Fleet Systems. Therefore, we believe that it’s the most detailed technical guide available – even with official authorization and approval by Lucasfilm.
“For every TIE fighter you shoot down, a thousand more will take its place”
―Baron Soontir Fel
You also get information on the Sienar fleet systems, the TIE series including the TIE Fighters and Starfighters series. It covers the first order edition, weapons and defensive systems as well as pilots, training and extra gear. Finally, a size comparison chart lets you see the fighter in comparison with other Star Wars spacecrafts.
How to maintain the TIE Fighter?
The TIE Fighters are designed to be as lightweight as possible in order to increase maneuverability. Instead of having a landing gear they can be landed carefully on their wing edges if needed. The twin Ion engines are very low-maintenance power units because of no moving parts but of course with delicate components.
The Workshop manual explains the complex design of the TIE fighter with detailed illustrations and specifications on for an example the solar-collector wings and the laser cannons. Exactly how to maintain the TIE Fighters remains unknown… However, the manual does provides many interesting details on the spacecraft. Information that will, for sure, impress other Star Wars fans as well as add a new complexity level to the amazing Star Wars universe.
