Four of the rooms are “Swim-Up Suites”, each with its own private pinewood terrace, open-air bathroom with a tropical shower and swim-up platform in the 20 meters turquoise-blue pool. The remaining four rooms are traditional thatched roof bungalows where you can sleep under the roof of woven palm leaves to the sound of ocean waves.

Design vision and style

The hotel has been through 1,5 years of construction and is the result of a collaboration between architect Elan Ibghy and designed Marie Bonnefond. The style is contemporary blended with rustic materials such as concrete, wood and Guatemalan textiles. The locally inspired thatched palm roofs are used throughout the retreat and the indoor/outdoor lounge area has handcrafted wooden sofas and swings surrounding a bar made from locally sourced wood. The furniture is designed by the owners but are handcrafted by a talented local carpenter.

Swell offers 5 different types of rooms – The Loft, The Bungalow, La Cabana, Uluwatu Suite and the Swim-Up Suite for prices between 400Q -720Q per night (equals to approx. $52 USD – $94 USD).
